£15M Makeover Historic Building – Durham

Luci Living Design are delighted to have been instructed to design the Marco Pierre White Steak House and Rotunda bar for Shire Hall in Durham as part of a £15m transformation of the building into an exclusive hotel.

The Grade II listed building Shire hall is packed with original period features, fully tiled stair cases and floors, feature lighting, stained glass, oak panelling, moldings, fire places. It is truly stunning and we could not be looking forward to this project more.

Originally erected as the headquarters for Durham County Council and based in Durham city centre, the hotel will be renovated into a Hotel Indigo, the up-market, boutique brand of Inter Continental Hotels Group (IHG).

Our instruction follows meetings with Black and White Hospitality who manage the development of the Marco Pierre White brand and North East commercial property developer Kevin Brown, and his business partner Shaun Crawley of Elvet Developments Ltd (EDL) following their deal to with Maven Capital Partners to secure the sale and refurbishment.

More updates on this project coming soon …..
