Pantone Colour Of The Year 2017 – Greenery

Pantone Colour Of The Year 2017 – Greenery

The colour experts at Pantone have given us the bold shade of ‘Greenery’ this year. So let Luci Living Design show you how to use it in your home.

Greens are all around us in nature and so it is easy to take them for granted but the growing trend for bringing the outside in makes this colour just perfect and so versatile.

Not many other colours present so many variations on a theme as green; on its own combined or contrasted with other colours, its decorative applications are infinite.

‘Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose,’ says Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman.

Pantone has chosen greens in the past for Colour of the Year but this one is particularly bright, calming and fresh.

Get With Nature

Perfect for a restful bedroom. Work to replicate the colours of fresh botanicals – steal inspiration from ferns in the woods or lush country hedgerows. Begin with a simple backdrop and just paint walls in a simple white and stick to wooden flooring or painted floorboards to allow paint effects to stand and add a simple feature wall or the like or fern inspired or botanical paper.

Botanical Is Best

Botanicals are a wonderful way to add interest and at Luci Living design we LOVE plants. Prestwich has the best plant shop ever Nonsense on the high street too. If you don’t want to keep plants yourself then introduce them through lovely accessories, cushions, pictures, vibrant glassware and use with rich green fabrics. In front of patterned wallpaper be sure to use plain painted furniture in white or wicker furniture to create a conservatory style or plain linen headboard to keep with natural finishes.

Cactus Crazy

We also love Cactus and they sell lots of those in Nonsense in Prestwich too! These are a great way to bring in Greenery. Low maintenance and rich in vibrant tones these make a fabulous visual addition to a contemporary home.

Basically, however you do it to get this look bring the outdoors in with displays of foliage.

When it comes to choosing the right shade of green, be bold on the decorating front or make life easy for yourself by choosing low-maintenance house plants, such as succulents, cacti and aloe vera if you are feeling flush then living walls are one of our favourite things and great for your health too.

Combine Colours

Greenery is nature’s own neutral, so why not combine complementary colours from the same palette. Plant and tree colours work perfectly. Mix patterns and try combining florals and geometrics. A combination of smaller prints and larger prints in shades of pink, brown earthy tomes mint, jade and lime have an uplifting effect.
