Project: Restaurant, Moor Hall Restaurant With Rooms

Luci Living Design worked alongside lead designer Martin Nealon of Angel Martin International during the major renovation and refurbishment of ‘Moor Hall Restaurant With Rooms’ in Aughton, West Lancashire. The now 2 Michelin starred restaurant is located within the stunning grade II* listed building that is steeped in history dating back to the thirteenth century. The site was acquired by Andy & Tracey Bell in 2015 and is set in five acres of breath-taking gardens with views to the south over a beautiful lake. The restaurant is run by patron and joint partner Michelin star chef Mark Birchall. Moor Hall is something really is something special and a real must for foodies. Luci Living Design were delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to work on this prestigious project over a two year period. In terms of design, the upper floor interior architectural features were fairly plain so under Martins direction these were stripped back to the bone to reveal the original features. This was used this as a backdrop to modern sculpturally inspired furniture. The Martin designed restaurant is set in an ultra-modern glazed extension at the end of the building. Adjacent to the restaurant the entrance, lounge, bars and reception contrast the restaurants contemporary design having some of the most exquisite original hand carved wall panelling in the country, hence Moor Hall’s grade 2* listing. Martin Nealon used the existing period interior to create an atmospheric backdrop for the furnishings and other key design elements. Luci Living Design arranged the manufacture of soft furnishings throughout to include curtains, pelmets, window seat cushions, as well supplied classic style furniture such as tan leather chesterfields and matching armchairs to complete the scheme and add to the character of the rooms. Modern elements were added to create a fusion of old and new.
