Pantone Colour Of The Year 2016 – Rose Quartz / Serenity
Double trouble …. it’s twins! For 2016 for the first time ever Pantone has announced not one but two colours as colour of the year. The jury is out on these. We at Luci Living Design are not too keen to be perfectly honest but here are our tips for using ‘Rose Quartz and Serenity’ which are shades of pale pink and baby blue.
Think traditional baby nursery colours and you are around the right mark.
Here’s what Pantone has to say about their choices …..
As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colours that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.
We have seen pastels emerge in a powerful and modern way in recent years and pink has almost become a new shade in the neutral spectrum.
Try moody blue on painted antique furniture to used display delicate pale pink vintage glass shades or pottery.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ in Antoinette and Louis Blue; both of which are great matches for the Pantone shades and are an easy way to update a tired looking piece of furniture.
Try pastels in some striking wallpapers available such as metallic finishes of the minute in rose gold
Whether you are loving Rose Quartz and Serenity or not embracing rose tones and the cooler tranquil blues will definitely promote a soothing sense of order and peace.
We don’t think we will be decorating our homes in it anytime soon however.
