Hotel Indigo MPW Steak House Open
This week sees the opening of one of Luci Living Designs grandest and most beautiful design projects to date.
Shire Hall in Durham opened its doors following a £15m transformation into a four-star Hotel Indigo.
Luci Living Design were instructed in June 2016 to design the Marco Pierre White Steak House and Grill restaurant and the initial designs for the Rotunda bar along with bespoke feature lighting.
The now completed building which is just 400 meters from Durham Cathedral retains much of its Victorian luxury with brass etchings lining the lobby walls, marble flooring, stained glass, panelling. The hotel has 83 bedrooms over four floors, restaurant, bar, coffee bar, conference, fitness centre and meeting rooms.
The Marco Pierre White restaurant designed by Luci Living Design is set in the former circular debating chamber and lobby room and it has been converted into a 100-seater restaurant with adjacent cocktail room the Rotunda Bar.
Described in the travel supplement of The Telegraph newspaper as …
“This contemporary city hotel is a smart but fun makeover of a splendid Victorian civic building that combines original features with funky design elements. There’s a relaxed café as well as a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, and all within a 10-minute walk of the cathedral and castle”
We love this little video tour from The Travel Loving Family featuring the restaurant and bar at Shire Hall
